Sandra and Grace at the lab

Super sad to be reaching the end of the trip. Today we went to the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry where we got to explore several different labs and learn about what each does. Although I do not have much chemistry or biochemistry knowledge besides the basics it was still interesting to see how a real lab functions and talk speak to the scientists about their projects. I found it interesting each scientist is working on their own projects with some even doing multiple.

After the IOCB we had free time to explore at our own pace. I took a short rest in the hotel before getting ready to go out on my own. I first stopped at Mcdonald’s to get some lunch as I wanted to compare the US Mcdonald’s to Czechia’s. I ordered the same thing as I do in the US, nuggets and fries, with an iced latte and a chocolate milkshake. While the food was a lot better than the US, tasted less chewy and more real, the drinks were very different. Both drinks were served in cardboard cups that looked like the drinks would be hot, I assume to reduce plastic, so at first I was confused if I was given the right drink. The drinks were alright but the paper straws make the drinks taste like cardboard, especially the milkshake which was a lot less sweet than in the US. After Mcdonald’s I walked around the city on my own and entered a few shops to buy souvenirs before meeting up with Sandra, Ameile, and Saachi at the mall and then going to dinner at a Georgian restaurant.
