My last day in Prague wasn’t too long. I was up at 3:00 AM to get ready for my Uber at 3:30 AM. I headed to Prague’s airport with my roommate, and we checked into our first flight taking off at 6:50 AM to Heathrow, London. At Heathrow, we got through security and quickly split so she could catch her flight to New York.
I got stuck with a lovely 8-hour layover in Heathrow and used my time to explore the airport, grab lunch, and finish some work on my laptop. Finally, I grabbed my flight back to Pittsburgh at 4:20 PM London time and landed in Pittsburgh at 7:50 ish PM EST. With 22 hours of traveling, I was pretty tired when my brother picked me up at the airport, but I had to stay awake to fight jet lag.
While I am glad to be back in my bed, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Prague. The history, culture, people, and places I met were all lovely. It was also my first time traveling without any family. Not to say it compares to traveling alone–I had 14 other classmates, 2 faculty, and a Czech guide–but it is a different experience than what I am used to. Even if I didn’t have the seventeen other people with me, I think I would still have been able to enjoy Prague. It is a very safe city and has plenty to do with friends or solo. I hope that maybe one of these days I’ll come back to visit it again!
If I could go back and do the entire trip again, I’m not sure there would be much I would change. We always had something to do with the program itinerary. I tried plenty of foods and spent most of my free time running around the city. The program was lots and lots of fun but definitely exhausting. I think I’ll sleep just fine for my first night back!
