We started the day by going to Karlštejn Castle. This is a medieval castle that was built under King Charles IV to house the Crown Jewels. It’s surprising to me that they would build a huge structure like this just for storing these items, but this likely would provide the best security they could offer. In fact, the castle was never seized, though several attempts were made. We also toured the castle with another tour group, and one of the people in that group was from Pittsburgh, making it feel like a small world. I also really enjoyed the train ride out there. The trains are meant to make commuting easier and reduce the need for people to drive into the city.

After we returned, we had some free time before our river cruise. This was a really good ending to our trip together. We were all laughing the whole night (especially Andrew), and got to take in sights of the city while seeing new parts as well. I thought the lock on the river was very interesting and a neat piece of engineering in action. Anyway, the dinner was great, and it was nice being able to have one last big gathering before we said our goodbyes. The program has been packed and honestly hard to remember everything that we squeezed in, but I’m very glad to have got to know everyone on the trip and experience such a cool city.
