I think it was really cool to see the evolution of the methods of extraction throughout the years. Obviously now with so much technology and mass production, it is surprising to learn how much manual labor and time it took to do a task that could take seconds now. Especially the saw, where they could only cut 7-8 mm a day. It really makes you think about how much time and effort was put into using these resources during the Renaissance, and the exponential difference in the amount of workers that are needed for this kind of work. Being able to see their tools, work and living conditions creates a new appreciation for everything that goes into these works.
