In fresco class, I realized the vast differences in the image rendering I was used to and a new type of image rendering I had no experience with: a fresco painting. Over the course of the past two years, some of my engineering classes have required me to develop my CAD skills. Through learning Fusion 360, I learned to create models using parameterized sketches. My creations built themselves through modulation of 2D shapes I could manually edit angles and lengths for with a text box. The software took care of shadows, positions, and rotation. I never had to think about my art in terms of lighting. But in the fresco class, the whole painting was built around darker and lighter values of pigment. I had to learn to see values and then recreate them on my cement.
