While in São Leopoldo, we had the opportunity to explore Brazil’s growing industries through visits to several companies and institutions. This experience gave me a broader perspective on how engineering is applied across different fields, from semiconductors to renewable energy.

One of the highlights of our visit was touring HT Micron, where we learned about semiconductor manufacturing and Brazil’s role in developing domestic microelectronics. It was interesting to see how semiconductor technology is being developed locally and how important it is for modern computing. We also visited UNISINOS, where we learned about their involvement in semiconductor research as well as biosensor development, showing how universities can play an important role in advancing technology and innovation.

We also toured several companies in the energy and manufacturing sectors including Certaja Energia, RGE/CPFL Energia, Higra, and Angulos. These visits helped connect many of the concepts I have learned as an Electrical Engineering student. Seeing how these organizations approach engineering challenges gave me a better understanding of the scale and collaboration required to support energy infrastructure and technological growth.

It was exciting to see how Brazil is investing in energy, technology, and innovation, this experience has strengthened my interest in power systems.
